disposableninja's big long book list

1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicize those you intend to read. (Instead, I'll italicize those I intend to make a best-effort attempt to never, ever read.)
3) Underline the books you LOVE. (There were really only two or three on this list that I capslock-love, so I went ahead and picked a few others that are pretty good so it looked less boring.)

1 Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen
2 The Lord of the Rings - JRR Tolkien
3 Jane Eyre - Charlotte Bronte
4 Harry Potter series - JK Rowling
5 To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee
6 The Bible
7 Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte
8 Nineteen Eighty Four - George Orwell
9 His Dark Materials - Philip Pullman (The Golden Compass)
10 Great Expectations - Charles Dickens
11 Little Women - Louisa M Alcott
12 Tess of the D'Urbervilles - Thomas Hardy
13 Catch 22 - Joseph Heller
14 Complete Works of Shakespeare
15 Rebecca - Daphne Du Maurier
16 The Hobbit - JRR Tolkien
17 Birdsong - Sebastian Faulks
18 Catcher in the Rye - JD Salinger
19 The Time Traveller's Wife - Audrey Niffenegger
20 Middlemarch - George Eliot
21 Gone With The Wind - Margaret Mitchell
22 The Great Gatsby - F Scott Fitzgerald
23 Bleak House - Charles Dickens
24 War and Peace - Leo Tolstoy
25 The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams
26 Brideshead Revisited - Evelyn Waugh
27 Crime and Punishment - Fyodor Dostoyevsky
28 Grapes of Wrath - John Steinbeck
29 Alice in Wonderland - Lewis Carroll
30 The Wind in the Willows - Kenneth Grahame
31 Anna Karenina - Leo Tolstoy
32 David Copperfield - Charles Dickens
33 Chronicles of Narnia - CS Lewis
34 Emma - Jane Austen
35 Persuasion - Jane Austen
36 The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe - CS Lewis (I thought we covered this by listing the Chronicles in No. 33?
I totally got to see this as I was driving home last night: 2-County Chase Ends On I-95N

The hospital was at the end of that exit ramp, and conveniently so, after the dogs got him. I don't think he felt a thing. Peeled Vicodin and vodka, lol.

The tinysquad is in Hawaii. Their plane was filled with sharks and snakes, and they liked it. Everyone else is in Houston for A-kon. Why do I even try anymore?

Handful of images from the raws. I started out cutting some of these for drawing reference purposes and ended up clipping 'stuff I enjoy about Kekkaishi' as well.

They're from v15 - v16 and should be spoiler-free outside of 'picture of a bad guy you haven't seen yet just standing there looking neat.'

BECAUSE MY LAYOUT SUCKS the frame is going to cut off a lot of these images. If you use firefox, right-click and select 'view image' on the ones that are obviously cut off.

oh god timmy fell in the well, come quick

get off the damn phone

awwww.

okay what the hell, stop beating the adopted children

masamori, make him stop beating the children, what is wrong with you

he's hurling shuu

get off the damn phone.

sweet.

sweet.

Yellow's technical skill escalates volume by volume.
How To Be Sensitive

They make us take online 'diversity courses' at work. The object is supposedly to increase 'global awareness,' ie., keep us from making jew jokes at work. We're required to select a certain amount of these courses, watch a slideshow presentation on the country involved, and then pass a test at the end. To be honest, I think I came out of these courses more racist than I went in.

And it's not hard to imagine why.

How the hell do all of you TVophiles find the time to watch the 19 hundred shows you're addicted to and still have time to 1. eat 2. sleep 3. use the bathroom?

For the sake of fairness I'm assuming you're all billionaires with no need to earn any kind of income, thus 'work' has been left off of the list above.

Cats
sit down to pee (our scientists
have proved it). The copulation
of cats is harrowing; they
are unbearably fond of the moon.
Perhaps they are all right in
their own country but their
traditions are alien to ours.
Cats smell, they can't help it,
you notice it going upstairs.
Cats watch too much television,
they can sleep through storms,
they stabbed us in the back
last time. There have never been
any great artists who were cats.
They don't deserve a capital C
except at the beginning of a sentence.
I blame my headaches and my
plants dying on cats.
Our district is full of them,
property values are falling.
When I dream of God I see
a Massacre of Cats. Why
should they insist on their own
language and religion, who
needs to purr to make his point?
Death to all cats! The Rule
of Dogs shall last a thousand years!

-- Peter Porter

quit dicking around with my shit, cats

So I'm making my bed, putting new pillowcases on the pillows, whatever, and realise my ceiling fan is on.

I look up at it, and I'm kneeling there thinking, "...why the fuck is that on? I haven't used that in weeks."

Ergo, someone has been in my room while I was at work.

I've been told it's 'gross' that I notice these things. I think it's 'retarded' that someone wouldn't. Is it that rare for someone to walk back in a room and notice the television is off when they left it on, a door is closed when it was open, an object is here when it was put down there, etc? This does not seem like the sort of thing that should be considered a mutant ability.

For. You know. Someone who doesn't have severe brain damage.
